10 Gluten Free Camping Snacks that Campers Love

10 Gluten Free Camping Snacks that Campers Love

Because camping and eating go hand in hand, here’s a list of gluten free camping food to help keep you and your fellow campers satisfied and feeling great on all your summer adventures. We’ve included these 10 recipes because they all follow our three C’s of outdoor eating: comforting, convenient, and cost-effective!

Most of these recipes are best prepped from home so you get maximum relaxation time while on your trip. In addition to your usual campfire veggie dogs, give these recipes a try and be sure to share your own favorite gluten free camping food in the comments below.

1. Gluten Free Jalapeño Cornbread Muffins

These cornbread muffins are great for breakfast, lunch, or as a side with dinner. They’ll last several days in an air-tight container (that is if you don’t eat them all on the car ride out of the city), and the jalapeño pepper is loaded with spicy health benefits.

2. Homemade Vegetarian Chili

Speaking of spice, Cookie and Kate’s Homemade Vegetarian Chili has just the right amount. It’s also full of protein and compliments those cornbread muffins perfectly! The best part is, it’s incredibly easy to heat up over the campfire. We suggest making a big batch of this gluten free camping meal and freezing half. The frozen container will save you money on ice and space in your cooler!

3. Gluten Free Corn Tortillas

Corn tortillas are surprisingly easy to make and they can be used in tons of gluten free camping meals. We love using them to wrap up the aforementioned chili or baking them up into chips over the fire.

4. Mary’s Gone Crackers

Because you probably don’t have time to make everything from scratch, we recommend packing a couple boxes of Mary’s Gone Crackers as a gluten free camping snack. They come in a variety of flavors that go great with the Serious Hummus featured in our 5 Gluten Free Picnic Recipes post. Yum!

5. Gluten Free Mango Salsa

Salsa is a must have on any camping trip, and while many brands specialize in gluten free recipes, they’re often much pricier than making your own. Some of the benefits of going the DIY route include getting a much bigger batch at a fraction of the cost, and customizing the ingredients to get your very own flavor. For an easy, gluten free camping snack, we love this simple Mango Salsa from Gluten Free Gigi.

6. Fluffy Gluten Free Pancakes

For a hot, fresh, gluten free camping breakfast, try these pancakes from Bob’s Red Mill. With a little fruit on the side, they’re the perfect start to a beautiful day outdoors. We recommend packing pre-measured ingredients in small containers to make packing a cinch!

7. No Bake Chia Energy Bites

These chia-based energy bites may take up a bit of space in your cooler, but they’re totally worth it. They’re super easy to prep pre-road trip, and if you plan on doing any hiking during your stay in the great outdoors, these bites will give you the energy boost you need to get moving.

8. Easy Asian Quinoa Salad

We love this gluten free salad idea because it’s super easy to prep the ingredients from home. Then, when you’re ready to whip it up tent-side, simply toss everything together. This gluten free camping salad is best served on day one or two, before your veggies start to brown.

9. Gluten Free Greek Pasta Salad

This is another gluten free salad idea that will make your camping trip menu feel gourmet. With fresh veggies and flavorful herbs, you’ll get the nutrients you need to stay healthy and energized on your trip. We hear this recipe will keep for 3 to 5 days in your cooler, but we don’t know any gluten free campers who have been able to put their forks down long enough to test that theory.

10. Gluten Free Banana Boats

Banana boats are fun, easy to make and oh so decadent, even though they look a little messy. We love how creative you can get with the toppings on these gluten free camping treats. Crushed organic mints, for example, make an ultra-delicious, mega refreshing, sweet n' spicy topper. The kids will love helping you assemble these by the campfire!
