How to make ginger tea for (healthy) weight loss

Posted by

When it comes to unwinding after a long day or soothing an upset tummy, ginger tea is a timeless remedy. But did you know that it’s also an incredibly useful tool in reaching your optimal body weight?

Studies have shown that consuming ginger helps speed up the metabolic system which leads to some pretty significant calorie burn. It also helps lower cholesterol and makes you feel fuller for longer which goes a long way toward preventing overeating. When your metabolism is functioning at its best, your eating habits are in check, and you’ve got the energy to stay active throughout the day, body fat — even stubborn belly fat — begins to melt away.

As an added bonus, this ginger tea recipe includes lemon, which is also a powerful ingredient in flushing toxins from the body. In addition to helping you reach your optimal weight, drinking this tea regularly will improve the health of your skin and hair, and it also helps relieve menstrual cramps and headaches. See ya later Midol!

Other benefits include (and certainly are not limited to) sore muscle relief and a stronger immune system, which is so important when you’re working out regularly. Ginger root is also a natural anti-inflammatory which means it relieves joint pain for people suffering from arthritis. It’s even been shown to have anti-cancer properties. Another bonus? Ginger is a natural breath freshening alternative to traditional chewing gum. BAM!

How To Make Ginger Tea for Weight Loss

Ingredients

1 teaspoon of finely grated ginger

1.5 tablespoons lemon juice

0.5 tablespoon raw honey

1 cup boiling water

1 green tea bag

Instructions

Mix the ginger, lemon juice, and honey in your favorite mug. Pour boiling water over the mixture, add the tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove tea bag and sip.

If you're craving something decaf, replace the green tea bag with an herbal one (we recommend mint!) — or cut it altogether.
