We wanted to see what all the hype was about with the recent delight - smoothie bowl. I tracked down a recipe from one of our favorite bloggers – Oh She Glows – and decided to give it a whirl. We picked a recipe from, Oh She Glows, because we have made several of her recipes in the past and have never been disappointed. In fact, the words delectable and saporous come to mind.
We made a few alterations based on lack of particular ingredients, but relatively stuck to the master’s recipe.
Green Tea Lime Pie Smoothie Bowl with Blueberry Drizzle
Ingredients:
FOR THE SMOOTHIE:
3/4 cup coconut water
1 cup fresh kale
1 large frozen banana
packed 1/4 cup avocado
2 teaspoons lime zest
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
2 ice cubes
1-2 teaspoons pure maple syrup, to taste
1/4 teaspoon Matcha green tea powder, optional
------
¼ cup of frozen blueberries
Couple ice cubes
Water
------
TOPPINGS:
Melted coconut butter
Large flake dried coconut
Lime zest
Hemp hearts
Blueberry drizzle
Directions:
1.Add all the smoothie ingredients into a high speed blender and blend on high until smooth. Adjust sweetness if desired. Transfer to a bowl and rise out the blender. Next blend the blueberries, ice and water.
2.Drizzle the blueberry yumminess onto your green smoothie. Next add your other toppings! We used melted coconut butter, dried coconut flakes, lime zest, hemp hearts and of course the blueberry drizzle.
*Delicious Happening: once you melt the coconut oil and drizzle it on top it hardens, and creates a delicious, buttery crunch!
